"Ratty," USA, 2016, encaustic wax, carbon transfer, gold mica powder, paper, found plastic netting on wood,6"x6"
In May 2016, I took a two day workshop on learning how to do encaustic painting at the Brooklyn Art Space, Trestle Projects. I made four very different encaustic paintings where I experimented in learning new techniques and approaches to this unusual medium. This one incorporated a sketch of an injured rat that I drew when I lived in Singapore. It has a sticker stuck to his tail and his front paw is gnawed to a stump.
