The original design was a wood carving.This was one of the first iterations before I added gradients and made it into a repeat pattern.
I created this pattern from a pyrography project. I was inspired by intricate Chinese paper cut designs, but did not want to limit the colors to strictly red and white. After scanning and some tedious repainting in photoshop, I was able to put this into repeat. The mock up building wall outside of Brooklyn's Havana Outpost was part of an instagram digital pattern bombing campaign that #makeitindesign started. I think the yellow traffic light and blue sky work well to balance the colors in the print.
